Raise money for dementia
Approximately 900,000 people in the UK currently live with dementia, a number projected to increase to 1,600,000 by 2040. Between 60% to 70% of these cases are diagnosed as Alzheimer’s, the most prevalent form of dementia. The campaign aims to raise funds for the Alzheimer's Society.
What is Alzheimer’s?
It is a type of dementia and it is the most common one. It is a progressive disease beginning with mild memory loss and possibly leading to loss of the ability to carry on a conversation and respond to the environment. Alzheimer's disease involves parts of the brain that control thought, memory, and language.
Why the Alzheimer’s society?
They organize awareness campaigns, including the acclaimed "Time for Dementia" program. This initiative helps educate young healthcare professionals about Alzheimer's through regular visits with individuals affected by the condition.
They support people living with dementia and their carers from the beginning of their diagnosis.
They fund cutting-edge research into the cause, care, cure and prevention of dementia. Since 1990, they have invested over £80 million into more than 400 research projects, which have made a real impact to both the dementia research field and people affected by dementia.
